The heroes and the fallen

While "29 Years" highlights the actions of several heroes associated with the story, we salute all those who've stepped forward to serve this great nation.

This documentary is dedicated to the crew of ASH One and the 184 souls lost at the Pentagon on 9/11. We also honor all those who've laid down their lives protecting our way of life.

The Heroes

"29 Years" is a story about heroes. One makes his way into the flaming wreckage of a downed B-52 to save a life. One dedicates his life in service to his country. Three respond to the horrific attack on the Pentagon 29 years later. And one family endures the sacrifice of service. Each of them represent the best in all of us.

Brent Diefenbach

An Air Force pilot in 1972, Brent rescued Robert Hymel from the flaming wreckage of his battle damaged B-52.

Karl Glasbrenner

A senior member of the Defense Intelligence Agency, Karl responded to the 9/11 attack on the Pentagon and provided survivor support to Pat Hymel.

Alex Silverstein

FBI agent and EMT, Alex responded to the 9/11 attack on the Pentagon. He found and recovered Robert from the building.

Jim Koerber

Jim was the operations commander at the Pentagon on 9/11. Twenty years after the attack on the Pentagon, he gave his first interview about events that day and the weeks that followed.

The Fallen

This story begins with the B-52 crash that claimed the lives of four of Robert Hymel's fellow ASH One crew members. His patriotism, sense of duty, and dedication to their memory drove him to continue to serve his country for 29 years. Robert's remarkable history met with destiny on September 11, 2001 when terrorists flew a hijacked airliner into the Pentagon killing Robert and 183 other innocent people.

We honor all those who have given their lives for this great nation.
